VTOP®, ETOP® and VCPM®
The Venue Transportation Operations Plan(VTOP®) concept was developed with more than four years of planning as a system-wide transportation integration model. It was first implemented at fifteen venues for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. This comprehensive planning document, acclaimed for its functionality and efficiency, serves as the foundation for each event that SP Plus Gameday undertakes.
The VTOP® clearly outlines transportation service levels for each constituent group (i.e. general spectators, media, venue employees, etc.) and venue property. The VTOP® captures routing, parking, transportation operations(including communications, logistics and staffing) and travel demand management strategy information.
By developing and implementing the VTOP® as an event basic foundation, SP Plus Gameday creates the most comprehensive transportation plans in the industry:
- You cannot put a shuttle system together without the proper infrastructure.
- You cannot plan for a successful traffic management plan if you don't know how the shuttle system works.
- You cannot plan and execute a successful evacuation plan without the proper integration between security, strategic planning, law enforcement and transportation.
The Event Transportation Operations Plan(ETOP®) is another valuable tool first put into use in early 2002. The ETOP® represents a common document that allows all event stakeholders (i.e. event management, staff, parking management, law enforcement officials, etc.) to work from a standardized process of product planning, development, review and implementation. This tool allows the varied backgrounds and players to come together under a unified plan, clearly outlining each contingent's responsibilities.
The Venue Capacity Population Model(VCPM®) is a one of a kind tool SP Plus Gameday uses to determine the parking area needed based upon venue capacity. By breaking out constituent attendance at major events, predicting their mode of travel, and equating those vehicle occupancies into parking spaces we quantifiably document your parking demand... all on one report. This resource has proven extremely useful in efficiently capturing key information for large, multi-venue events such as the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympic Games.
No event is the same - and every VTOP®, ETOP® and VCPM® is tailored to your specific needs and requirements. By integrating these tools into your event planning process, SP Plus Gameday can help assure your transportation needs are effectively determined and met.
